How to Make a Doll Lightbox & Green Screen
How to Make a Doll Lightbox & Green Screen
There is a lot of excitement from Z coming out. She is a really fun character and a lot of people in the AG community can relate to her hobbies. After seeing her green screen and light set up, we knew crafting it would be awesome. This is a fairly easy craft and will make your doll photo shoots pop!
Materials Needed:
- Milk Caps
- Craft paint
- Parchment Paper
- Black Card Stock
- Hot Glue
- Tea Lights *optional
- 2 Wing Nuts
- 2-18″ Dowels *green screen
- 2-16″ Dowels *lights
- 1-14″ Dowel *green screen
- 12- 3″ Dowels *legs
- Scrap Green Fabric
TIPS-
- You can buy pre-cut dowels at any hobby store. However, I haven’t found cut dowels longer than about 12″. Instead, I buy the long ones and cut them down myself. I shop at Micheals for them but I’ve seen them at hobby Lobby also. If you don’t have tools to cut them, you can still cut them down by using an X-Acto knife. Mark where you want to cut, then press the X-Acto knife around the dowel where you marked. Keep rotating the dowel and pressing through. Once you cut deep enough, the dowel will snap in half. Then you can file down the ends.
- If you do not want to use dowels, you can make paper tubes. It’s the same process that we use for canned food and the telescope from the American Girl Astronomy Set. That thing is still pretty sturdy! Check it out here >>>American Girl Doll Science Fair Set DIY
- The legs will be secure in the hot glue under the carton cap. A little trick I like to do is fill up the cap like you see in the video, hold the legs in place until the hot glue settles enough to hold them, then stick the entire thing in the freezer. It speeds up the process and there is less chance for movement. While I was filming that part I quickly showed you what I do on camera, then I ran to my freezer and stuck it in. ?

I think aleena is asking if you can use nail polish instead of acrylic paint
May 13, 2017 at 6:56 pm –
Aleena, nailpolish is not like acrylic paint, nailpolish is what you use to paint on to your fingernails to make them look cute, acrylic paint is what you use for crafting. Does this help you?

I’m not sure exactly what you are asking. But we do use nail polish sometimes instead of craft paint for our projects.
