American Girl Books Tutorial

To make sure your 18″ doll has enough reading material, follow this tutorial and you can make an endless supply of American Girl Books.

Materials Needed:

Paper

Card stock (Optional)

Scissors

Mod Podge

Sponge Brush

Patterned Card stock Scissors Mod Podge Card stock

Step 1:

Get three sheets of plain white paper and fold them in half.  Once the paper has a crease in it, cut along the crease.  Repeat until you have small rectangles.  To know the size of your book, fold a rectangle in half like a book.  If it looks to big, cut it smaller.  Make sure all the pieces are the same size.  You don’t want your book to have funky pages!

Step 2:

Stack the folded paper together and hold firmly.  Get your sponge brush and generously coat the stack with Mod Podge. Don’t be scared to drip!  Make sure it is completely covered and let dry. If you want to speed up the process and move to the next step, use a hair dryer.

Step 3:

Get your card stock, (or any printed paper that you want to use for your book cover) and cut it about 1/2″ bigger than the rectangle squares you made for the book pages.  Since this will be the cover, it needs to be a litter bigger to fit.  Wrap it around the book pages you just glued, and repeat the Mod Podge step.  Cover it completely with Mod Podge.  I did the front, let it dry, and then did the back.  I didn’t want it to stick to any surface.  Once the first coat is completely dry, do another.  I did about 6-7 coats.  The more coats you do, the harder and stronger the books are.  It dries clear, so don’t worry about that.

When the last coat of Mod Podge dries, the books will be ready for your American Girl Doll!

I did not make printables for this craft. You have to use your own images.
