DIY American Girl Doll Hello Kitty Cafe Craft
DIY American Girl Doll Hello Kitty Cafe Craft
Earlier this week we attended the grand opening of the very first Hello Kitty Cafe in the United States. Even though it was the third day of the grand opening, it was crazy! So many people showed up to experience the opening and the line went on for hours. Once we were done with the cafe, we did a little shopping, went on a few rides, and hours later in the afternoon, on our way home, the line was still extremely long. Our group got there around 9am (it didn’t open until 11am) and we didn’t leave the shopping plaza until after 3pm. That should give you an idea of how packed it was. There was so much excitement for the Hello Kitty Cafe!
We have gotten so many requests for Hello Kitty crafts, so we thought this was the perfect opportunity to finally do one. A Hello Kitty Cafe for our American Girl Dolls! The Hello Kitty Cafe we went to was a pop up location. It will only be there for a year I believe, and then it might move to another location. The entire Cafe is a shipping container that completely closes up once they are done for the day. There is also a Hello Kitty Cafe food truck that goes around to different locations and is very similar to the pop up container. Since we have the extra Our Generation Ice Cream Truck made from foam board, we wanted to put it to good use and transform it! So, that was our base for this project. You can use the real OG Ice Cream Truck, or you can craft your own and follow our tutorial. Link below. I want to add that we mixed menus from both the food truck and the pop up into our version. There are still a few things that we left out, but I hope this inspires you and gets you started!
We also took pictures on our visit. You can see those at the bottom of the post.

There are full Hello Kitty Cafes in Asia. There is also a pop up location in Irvine California and a food truck that travels. You have to follow their Facebook and Instagram to know where they will be next.
