As you know we do a lot of plans here on American Girl Ideas where you can follow the step by step guides and make your own pieces out of wood, MDF, cardboard, or foam board. The foam board seems to be the most popular lately and it’s easy on the wallet too. It saves you hundreds compared to the AG price tags and also saves you from cutting wood if that’s not your forte. I highly recommend the Logan Deluxe FoamWerks Kit because it has everything in it that you need. Straight edges, circles, v cuts, and so much more. It sells for $95 on Amazon with Amazon Prime and that’s a great deal considering what projects you will be making with it. Why do I think almost $100 is a great deal? Because this is a tool set. If you were going with woodworking tools you would be spending thousands. With the FoamWerks kit, you can create dozens of American Girl crafts and it ends up saving you so much! If you can’t get the deluxe kit yet, I recommend starting with the FoamWerks Channel Rail and the FoamWerks Straight Cutter. The two together will give you straight clean cuts every time.

What a cool cool tool. If I won this, I would start getting into foam crafting with my granddaughters. What a great way to spark their imagination. Too many video games and stuff and not enough ways to have true quality time and this is one way to do that. I don’t know what we would make first. something cute and simple so the girls would get hooked right away. How exciting. I’m also going to share this with their Mom so she can enter the contest.
I would love to win this, because when I was trying to make the ice cream truck, I wasn’t able to get a smooth edge. It was also really hard to cut through the foam board. Do you recommend any tools to use besides this foamwerks set, or an exacto knife? Also do you us like a really thick craft foam for the ice cream truck, or the regular foam board? Just curious, because in your videos it always just looks like a really thick craft foam.

I am an architecture student so the foamwerks tools are something that is not new to me, however if I won this entire kit I would definitely use it to make a HUUUUGE playhouse for my little sister’s American Girl doll. She would probably freak out.

I craft a lot and I use foam board a lot. I think the first thing I would do is replace the walls and floors of my granddaughters AG doll house.
My daughter and i turned 2 sets of those silver utility room 5 shelf units into a 3 story 6 room doll house with storage space. It was a really easy project the bones of the house is the shelf unit but to enclose it we used foam board, contact paper and zip ties. The hardest part of the project was getting the foam/poster board to have clean edges when we cut them. The house has been up for almost 3 years now and we wouldn’t mind replacing the floors and walls (it cost about $20) but this would make the cutting soooo much easier.

I’m not sure my entry actually left a post…..honestly, I would make everything! And we are soooo excited about the Pottery Barn vet clinic that is coming soon! That was on my “want” list and I never got to purchase it. I think a vet clinic will be perfect for my daughter’s new Lea doll since Lea loves animals. My husband surprised both her and me by picking up Lea yesterday when he was getting his phone fixed and found himself across from the American Girl store. My daughter cried tears of happiness which she has never done before. A special daddy-daughter moment for sure!

Thanks for the recommendation for the FoamWerks cutters. I didn’t even know these existed, and my kids and I have been frustrated trying to get clean edges cutting with Xacto knives. We have made the ice cream truck and Lea’s fruit stand using your instructions, but I would love to have the FoamWerks cutter to make Lea’s rainforest house!

I would make a bakery storefront with double working doors, to be placed in front of our diner, bakery, kitchen area. I especially love the cornering tool to cut a perfect slice out of foam core to make a side wall. I have been making foam core projects fo f a long time, struggling on circles especially. What a great tool!

There are so many great ideas here, I would probably do a variation of the ice cream van. As a former picture framer, I can truly appreciate this set of tools, foam core board is much easier to cut with very sharp blades and good measuring guides!
