Elf on the Shelf

Elf on the Shelf

The famous tradition of Elf on the Shelf long lives in our household.  I’ve seen a lot of negativity about the Elf on the Shelf, but for us it is purely fun.  Our Elf is named Casper and he comes out on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.  And, it’s clockwork.  I don’t have to remind the kids at all that Casper will be making his grand appearance, they just know.  This year, my son who is five woke up VERY early just to run around the house looking for Casper.  I was so tired but to hear the excitement in his voice was worth losing a little shut eye.  And of course everyday that follows is just as fun.  Casper is a good elf, most of the time!

With all this said, I wanted to make sure our dollies had the same fun and excitement in their lives this time of year!  I seriously searched EVERYWHERE for a miniature poseable Elf on the Shelf with no luck.  So, i just got a little creative!  The poor teddy bear I found was at Target in the Holiday ornament section.  It was $3 and it is the perfect size.  Look for yourself at the Elf On The Shelf transformation!

If you have made your own version, please leave a comment on how you did it!

Materials Needed:

  1. Some type of miniature muslin doll (I used the teddy bear ornament)
  2. Hot Glue Gun & Sticks
  3. Scissors
  4. Miniature Santa Hat ( I found mine at Michaels)
  5. Red & White Felt
  6. Spare Doll Head (Ex. Mini Moxie Girls, Sister Barbie, Littlest Pet Shop Girl)
