DIY American Girl Tamales Craft

DIY American Girl Tamales Craft

As soon as we brought Lea Clark’s collection home and reviewed the Fruit Stand, the requests for tamales started flooding in. We have finally had a chance to make them and we are very pleased to say this is a quick and easy craft. Great for all ages to join in and have fun.

Materials Needed:

  • Strips of paper
  • Glue Stick
  • Mod Podge or Sealant of choice
  • Toothpick

TIPS:

  • Sealing the finished tamales with mod podge or something similar is optional, but this step has always made our crafts last much longer. We still have paper crafts from a few years ago that look brand new!
  • The tamales do not have to look identical. The American Girl ones look different and each has the husk folded differently. You can look up pictures of tamales to get different ideas.
  • Make plenty! These would be a good addition to a Taco cart!

Watch and tell us your favorite type of tamales!

Yes, they are different. We made Tamales because that’s what they are listed as from American Girl. In my family, we actually make Pasteles.
