DIY American Girl Doll Zebra Cakes

Have you ever tried a zebra cake? I’m not really a fan of snack cakes but our dolls love them! This craft is so simple and we used everything we had on hand. If you’re a regular crafter, you probably have the materials on hand also. If not, it’s an inexpensive treat. One sheet of craft foam will go a long way when making these cakes. I have big bottles of puffy paint, but a small bottle will still get several cakes made. Have fun!

Materials Needed:

  • Craft Foam *I used yellow to make the cake authentic, but white will also work!
  • Puffy Paint
    • Brown for stripes
    • White for frosting
  • Zebra Cakes Box Printable

Watch and tell us what treat your doll likes to eat!

Thanks KittyCrafter. I will take that for advice. I know how to make puffy paint from Rudy’s amazing video. I haven’t ever made the kind of DIY puffy paint that Rudy made that she recommends. I just want to try something different since I see some puffy paint crafts for the dolls out there already.

Clarissa- You could probably use regular acrylic or tempra paint for this craft if you sealed it with a clear drying glue so it is shiny

These would also make super cute mini squishies if you used the puffy paint on memory foam!

This is adorable! It is so simple to make too. Rudy I love your crafts. Can you make so crafts without puffy paint? I still really like your crafts even if they do include puffy paint. I agree with Althea, you should make brownie mix ingredients. Also can you please make the chicken coop and its accessories from the american girl stable. Thanks.

I did a post a few years ago on how to make your own puffy paint. You can always make your own substitutions but for this craft the puffy paint looks best for the frosting on the cake. It gives it dimension. There are over 400 crafts on AGI so browse around and find some without puffy paint! I love the brownie idea.

    This is super cute!

Maybe you could make brownies, or at least brownie mix/ingredients.
