Are you ready for part 2  of the American Girl Gymnastics series?  Since you have already made the leotard for your doll, you can now make the floor beam to go with it.  This is so simple and is a must have for your gymnastics collection.

My girls helped me paint our balance beam, and it turned out awesome!

Shopping list:

1 – 2×2 @19’’
1 – 1×1 @ 5’’
Wood Glue
18 Gauge 1 1/4’’ nails
Lightweight Spackle

Cut List:

1 – Top of Beam – 2×2 @ 18’’
2 – Legs – 1×1 @ 2’’

Tools:

Tape Measure
18 Gauge Nailer
Miter Saw or Circular Saw
Hearing Protection
Safety Glasses
Pencil
Sanding Block

Step 1:

Attach the beam to the two legs.  Just nail them from the bottom up.

So why the Lightweight Spackle? I don’t see anything on how to use it? Also the shopping list and cut list don’t add up?

The shopping list and cut list do add up. It might make more since when you are at the store looking at the wood to buy. Lightweight spackle is used to cover up the nail holes before you sand and paint. This is optional of course, you can just let the tiny holes show.

So you want me to make a balance beam without using wood or glue? If that’s what you want, I can make that!
