American Girl DIY Cotton Candy Cart
American Girl DIY Cotton Candy Cart
When we made the DIY American Girl Ice Cream Cart we had so many requests for us to make it out of foam board. So, we listened and here is the step by step using foam board. We also had a lot of requests to make cotton candy. So, instead of making another ice cream cart (we don’t need three) we turned it into a cotton candy cart! Simply print out the patterns below and follow the video.
There is also a giveaway for our favorite foam board tools, FoamWerks. Be sure to enter the giveaway below. Here is the link for the FoamWerks Deluxe Kit so you can check out what all comes with it. Logan Deluxe FoamWerks Kit
Materials Needed:
- Cotton Candy Sign
- Cotton Candy Menu
- Hot Glue
- Straight Edge Cutter
- Foamboard 1/2″ & 3/16″
Patterns:
American Girl DIY Cotton Candy Cart Cutouts
TIPS:
- If you use different thickness foam board than what I used, you will need to readjust some pieces.
- This can be a multi-use cart. Food, treats, drinks, so many ideas!
- The FoamWerks tools are best, but if all you can use is an X-acto knife, just make sure you use a fresh blade and cut all the way through in one motion. Do not try to “saw” through the foam board. That will give you jagged edges.
Watch and tell us your favorite flavor cotton candy

Can i just get the measurments instead of printing out 3 or more pages worth of shapes? Im afraid the printer will not get the right size like the fruit by the foot box seemed too big and the wrappers too small

Did this project today. Super cute, but I wish there were some actual directions to follow as the video is difficult to follow. Also some of the pieces do not fit together properly- the door is too small for the opening, the counter was way too small (had to cut out a new piece). Also had to cut a new front piece to fit. And there is no pattern piece for the bottom of the cart. Aside from all of the issues we had putting it together, I think it will turn out adorable when I’m finally done!

I’m sorry your pieces didn’t fit together properly. Sometimes when working with foamboard it can be tricky and you have to resize a few things because not all foamboard brands are the exact same thickness. The patterns I provided were from my cart that was showed in the video. Each piece was scanned for the pattern. In the post the original plans were linked, so you could see the step by step pictures. You can see that here: https://www.americangirlideas.com/american-girl-diy-cotton-candy-cart/

Do you need a special program in your computer to print the templates/patterns. I printed them and they don’t match, like they are out of scale ?

I’m not social media savvy so I don’t understand the ‘share’ option, what goes in the empty box?

Hi Rudy! I love your blog! Would you be able to make doll school desks? Sort-of like the one from American Girl.
