Maryellen’s Living Room Set

Who is ready for Maryellen to come out?!  Just get here already!  Enough with the teasers right?! By now everyone should have seen the leaked photos from American Girl all over social media.  Not to mention that American Girl has been giving us sneak peeks on their pinterest page!  As much as I love sneak peeks, and I am guilty of them myself, I just want to see the entire product!

Here is my DIY version of Maryellen’s Living Room Set.  Her table is actually a three tier table, but since it’s DIY you can make it however you want!  It still has the same feel and design.  Once I have the real thing on hand I will design a sketch up for those woodworkers out there!  That one will be more accurate of the design.  I really hope you enjoy my version!

Funny Story-The table is complete and sitting off to the side waiting for me to take pictures of it when my youngest Lexie walks in.  Lexie,”Mom, what is that??” Me, “It’s a table.” Lexie “It’s looks weird! Really weird!”

Materials Needed:

  1. White Foam Board
  2. Scissors
  3. Kidney Table Printable
  4. Maryellen Table Printable
  5. TV Guides
  6. E6000 Glue
  7. Gold Card Stock
  8. White Paper
  9. Stapler
  10. Glue Stick
  11. Large & Medium Dowel
  12. And of course Mod Podge!

Tips:

  • I used Mod Podge on the table top printable BEFORE I glued them to the foam board.  Do not add Mod Podge after.  It will warp the foam board.
  • I used scissors to cut out the printables from the foam board.  It gives a very nice crisp edge over the x-acto knife. At least for me anyways. It does take more time though.
  • When I had the tables turned upside down with the E6000 glue drying on the legs, I also squirted some down into the legs.  I thought hey, extra strength right?  Just make sure it dries all the way before you flip it over.  You could use hot glue, but it won’t hold up as well.

    Is there some way you can make the reverse image of the kidney shaped printable so that you can make 2 end tables that would go to either side of the sofa?

    I would love to have matching end tables but they would have to be opposites of each other to do that.

      I think they are coral. At least that’s what I’m hoping since the colors look like they run through her entire world.

      That couch was a random CL find. But, I do plan on making ME couch! I kinda have an idea on how I want to make it, but I am waiting until I can get the accurate measurements from the real thing!
