DIY American Girl Doll Braided Rug Tutorial

Here’s another doll rug tutorial! You can never have too many types of rugs and other decor in the dollhouse. I love variety. This craft is simple, IF you already know how to braid. If not, this is a good time to learn! It’s also very easy braiding long strips of fabric vs. trying a french braid for the first time.

I want to say, my preferred method for making a braided rug is using a sewing machine. I prefer the stitch especially if the rug is going to be larger. You can use this tutorial but make the finished product much, much bigger! Make one for your bedroom or bathroom! You can even add to it over time as you get more scrap pieces of fabric or clothing! It can take time so if you have a lot of shirts you want to cut up, turn on a good Netflix series!

Materials Needed:

• Scrap fabric or old t-shirt (any piece of clothing will work. leggings, pajama pants, night gowns, dresses, etc)
• Sheet of Felt
• Hot Glue Gun *can opt for the stitching method with sewing machine!
