American Girl Doll Unicorn Bedroom

The unicorn series continues with an American Girl Doll Unicorn Bedroom! This was a lot of fun to put together. We found inspiration on Pinterest and one our favorite AGIG accounts, samisays_ag. If you haven’t checked out her YouTube channel or Instagram account, I highly recommend it! Our colors aren’t quite as soft as her room for Tenney, but we still went with the blues, pinks, and glitter gold!  I did purchase a few items for this bedroom to tie in the unicorn theme, but most of it was done by Launa who gathered unused doll items we had in our stash. I made a list below to hopefully cover any questions you may have about where certain items came from.

White Metal Bed- Kit’s bed spray painted glossy white. It turned out fabulous and I’m so glad I painted it! This is the exact spray paint I used>>>Rust-Oleum Gloss White.

White Book Shelf-  I built it specifically for this room. Toy’s R Us had a smaller one for around $30 and American Girl had one same dimensions minus the doll storage in the back for $85. Both are now unavailable so I made my own.  It’s really easy and inexpensive. If you want, I can put the plans and tutorial in a separate post. It almost makes me want to make built-ins for an entire wall in one of our rooms!

Vanity- It’s from Tenney’s Stage & Dressing room. The lights turn on! See our review for Tenney’s Stage.

Blue Metal Chair- It came in the AG Gourmet Kitchen Set. I got an extra one. See our review on the Gourmet Kitchen!

Unicorn Toy Box- This was an Amazon purchase. 

Unicorn Bedspread- This was originally a nightgown from Gymboree. I turned it into the bedspread!

White Fluffy Rug- I have a lot of fuzzy, fluffy rugs for my dolls.  Most are just from fabric I get at the craft store. The very first one I made is HERE. I’ve come a long way with my rugs since then. ?  Now I make sure my thread matches and blends in. Anyways, I was with a friend walking through Walmart and we came across the St. Patricks Day clearance. Hanging with the clearance tee’s was this weird fluffy thing that looked like a hand towel, but not made of terrycloth. I grabbed it because after looking at it I realized if I cut it in half it would be the perfect doll rug for this unicorn room. When it rang up it read “leg skirt”. You can see the picture below. ? So that’s what it was!

Cat Tower- This was a craft we did a while back in a collaboration with American Girl.  Visit the craft HERE.

Gold Unicorn Figures- These are unicorn party favors. They come in a pack of 12 and we spray painted them gold. Well, not all of them.

3 Picture Frame Set- Michaels. We cut up doll images from the catalog.

Miniature Tea Set, Table & Chairs- These came from Michaels. They are found with the miniatures. Ariel is one of the Disney Princess clip on dress figures.

Miniature My Little Pony Toys- These are squishy pops! You can see us open them HERE.

Tiny Golden Animals- These are beads that came from a craft store. We spray painted them gold. Lion, Rhino, Giraffe, and Elephant.

Golden Train- This is a mini train from our Thomas & Friends blind bags.

Dress Form-  The dress form came in the Our Generation sewing table set. The skirt on it is Tenney’s and the shirt is something I made. I sewed the plain white tee and then used my Cricut to cut out the vinyl gold letters. I then ironed them on the shirt.  The gold shoes under are from Michael’s.

Pink Glitter Backpack- This is from one of the small Our Generation Accessory packs. We did a review on it HERE.

Unicorn Stuffies– These came from Amazon.

Dog Pillow- This is from Maryellen’s Collection.

Apple Laptop- This is a compact mirror from Amazon.

Trophy- I have no idea. It came in one of the kids party favor bags from a birthday.
