I know I have said this before, but we are a crafting family! It might not always be magazine perfect, or photo Pinterest worthy, but we love it and have fun together doing it. I’m sure if I always did the crafts and never let the kids help, the end results might be something a bit more spectacular. However, I have never heard the kids complain when we are done about looks. I only hear the excitement they have for completing a project and being able to help! This activity was no different. Originally I was going to use my cricut and make some fancy cutouts to attach the the crayon boxes, but that’s when I realized it would be too complicated for the kids to follow. So, I simplified it and just made easy cutout printables!
I got this idea after Christmas when I went into Michaels for some doll crafts. They had a huge clearance on the bin items and these awesome character crayons were marked down to $0.10 each! I couldn’t pass these up, especially when they ended up being around the same price or less than a boxed set of class Valentine’s! My kids do not write names on their class Valentine’s yet, so I got girl themed for my daughter, and boy themed for my son. That way it would make it easier when they passed them out to their friends. The activity was easy. We printed the printables, cut them out, added a from name to make it more personable, and glued them to the back of the crayon boxes. Tape would have worked just fine, but go figure I couldn’t find any! So, the messy glue it was.
