Part 3: American Girl Doll Chair

Part 4: American Girl Doll Coffee Table

In part 2 of the American Girl Living Room Set series you will learn how to make a matching loveseat that seats up to two 18″ dolls.  If you made the matching American Girl Doll Couch, then this will be easy.  It’s just a smaller version!

Shopping list:

1 – 1/2’’ x 2’ x 4’ Plywood or MDF

1 – 2×2 @ 6’

1 – 1×1 @ 20’’

Wood Glue

18 Gauge 1’’ or 3/4’’ nails

Lightweight Spackle

Cut List:

1 – Seat – 1/2’’ x 6 3/4’’ x 12 ’’
4 – Legs – 2×2 @ 2’’
1 – Back Rest – 1/2’’ x 5 3/4’’ x 12’’ ( Cut Bottom at 5 degrees
off square)
2 – Arm Rest Support – 1×1 @ 5 1/2’’
2 – Arm Rest – 1×1 @  6 7/16’’

Tools:

Tape Measure
18 Gauge Nailer
Miter Saw or Circular Saw
Hearing Protection
Safety Glasses
Pencil
Sanding Block

Step 1:

Attach all four legs to the bench seat.  Nail them into place from the top of the bench through.  You will use spackle to cover these holes before you paint.

Step 2:

Attach the back of the love seat by using wood glue and nailing into place.  Nail from the bottom of the seat.

Step 3:

Nail the armrest supports into the front two legs.  You can also nail it into the side of the bench right above the legs.

Step 4:

The last step is to secure the arms in place.  Nail them into the armrest supports and into the side of the back.

Your American Girl Doll Loveseat is complete!  Now spackle all the nail holes, sand it, and paint!  It will be ready for your dolls as soon as the paint of your choice dries.
