American Girl Dollhouse Bench
American Girl Dollhouse Bench
This is such a cool concept. I wanted to build something to share for those of you who might not have room for a full size American Girl Dollhouse. I also wanted to make it practical. These plans are for a two bedroom condo for your American Girl Dolls. Of course you can switch out the rooms as you please, but it doesn’t take up as much space as a full dollhouse. The best thing about these plans? It can be used as a bench also! The front is a bench, the back is the condo! Pretty neat huh? That’s why it is on wheels, so it’s easier to move when you need one or the other.
Shopping list:
2 – 3/4’’ Plywood @ 4’ x 8’
2 – 1×2 @ 8 Feet
Wood Glue
Kreg Jig
1 1/4’’ Kreg Jig Screws
6 – Rubber Wheel Swivel 2 in. Plate Caster
Cut List:
3 – 3/4’’ (Plywood) @ 24’’ x 24’’ – Walls ( The Middle Wall can be
modified to include an Open Concept. Refer to Step 2)
2 – 3/4’’ (Plywood) @ 24 3/4’’ x 61 1/2’’ – Floor and Ceiling
1 – 3/4’’ (Plywood) @ 24’’ x 61 1/2’’ – Back Wall
2 – 1×2 @ 24 3/4’’ Side Bench Trim
1 – 1×2 @ 60’’ Back Bench Trim
Tools:
Tape Measure
Miter Saw or Circular Saw
Table Saw
Jig Saw
Hearing Protection
Safety Glasses
Pencil
Sanding Block
Step 1:
In this step you are just creating the pocket holes for the two outer walls with your Kreg Jig so you can screw other pieces into place later. They are 24″ x 24″.See picture below.
Step 2:
Once again you are just creating the pocket holes with your Kreg Jig so you can screw into place later. It makes it so much easier if you do this before trying to piece it together. This board is the middle wall. You will cut out the walkway in the next step.
Step 3:
Use your Jig Saw to cut out the doorway for the middle wall. This step is optional.
Step 4:
Create your pocket holes for the back wall. Keep in mind that the outside of the condo is going to be your bench. So you want to keep the pocket holes on the inside to hide the screws.
Step 5:
Screw into place the two outer walls to the floor. The floor will not have any pocket holes.
Step 6:
Now screw into place the middle wall.
Step 7:
Attach the back wall. This will secure all three walls you just put up.
Step 8:
Attach the top of the condo/seat of the bench.
Step 9:
Add the bench trim by nailing into place.
Step 10:
Screw all six wheels into place. This step is optional, but it does help when moving the condo to turn around for the bench.

Do you happen to have a finished product image of this? I would love to see it in a space and with a doll. I can’t tell how big it will be. I’m trying to make something that will fit at the end of my daughter’s twin size bed.
