American Girl Bowling Alley

Finally!  My dolls can now bowl in their very own American Girl Bowling Alley!  I started this project weeks ago and have just slowly been adding things here and there.  Now that it is finally complete I am excited to share it with you.  It’s actually not that hard to put together.  My youngest helped a lot while the older kids were at school.  It was always fun for her to show them what ‘she’ did for the day.  Also, I did a few printables that you are more than welcome to use for yours.

*Funny story.  I originally bought a tube of glow sticks from Target One Spot to add to the scene.  Because I did this project over several weeks, my kids got impatient and opened the glow sticks to use them for themselves.  So, I bought a second tube.  Same story, they grew impatient and opened them up.  I bought a third tube, came home, hid it, then when I put the scene together I forgot where I hid it!  Anyways, I think glow sticks would be really neat to add to a bowling alley scene!

Materials Needed:

  1. Large Cardboard Box (Home Depot)
  2. Scrap cardboard for the floor & Bowling Lanes (I used a trifold I had on hand)
  3. Scrapbook paper for the walls, locker, ball return, table and stools, etc.
  4. Locker Printables
  5. Empty box for counter (I used popcorn box)
  6. Display Case Printable (You might need to resize it when in print preview depending on the box you are using for the counter)
  7. Empty Button Jar (Like this one)
  8. Empty Soup Can
  9. Toilet & Paper towel rolls for table and stools
  10. Extra paperboard on hand (like cereal boxes)
  11. Scissors (I also used an Xacto knife)
  12. Hot Glue
  13. Glue Stick
  14. Shoebox Lid (for snack bar window)
  15. Scorecard Printables
  16. Clear Packing Tape
  17. Bowling Sign Printables

About how tall and long are these boxes? Would they work to make an American girl Room?

Do you think that I should put my bowling alley on the brags page? What do you think your next project will be?

THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!! You have saved me a ton of trial and error!!! I bought three bowling outfits from Our Generation and planned to make three different ones for the opposing team. I haven’t been to a bowling alley in years, so stopped to see how they have changed. Of course they were closed. I was going to try to figure out how to make the ball return. You did it for me. Thank you!!!! It will be awhile before I get around to making it, but I will be sure to give you the credit!!!!

You’re welcome! As for the ball return, I have seen so many different types! It came down to what I had on hand and what I thought would be easiest for someone to replicate.
