How to make Grace’s Bakery Refrigerator

I have been working like crazy trying to get Grace’s Bakery Replica done.  Between doing that, working, kids, and everyday crafts (yes, we have a daily craft as a family) it is taking a bit longer than I wanted it to take.  That’s okay though, because I feel that it is coming along and it’s looking amazing!!!  Some of the pieces that I am making for the bakery, like this mini fridge, I am waiting to share my final picture until the bakery grand reveal.  However, I still want to share the plans with you in case you are making a bakery replica too!  Sharing is caring ?

Also, I know that you can make this cute mini fridge with a shoebox, or foam board, or cardboard.  That is great and would also be a fun craft, but my plans are to help you make something that can last long term and endure child’s play.  I have tried the cardboard crafts, and they don’t work for me yet just because my kids are younger and still like to actively play with my sets/scenes.  Once I make scenes just enjoy, I might be able to do the simple crafts again.  Until then, I just wanted you to know why I do more building versus cardboard crafts.

1 – 3/8’’ Nails for 18 Gauge Nailer

1 – Hinge Packets (2 per pack) Trim screws so they do not poke through the wall.

1 – Handle for the door

1 – 5/8’’ wooden dowel

1 – 1/8’’ sheet Plexiglass

Step 1:

Attach the sides to the fridge bottom by using wood glue and nailing into place.

Step 2:

Once the sides are attached to the fridge bottom, insert the back.  Put glue on the sides before you slide down.  Once into place, secure with nails.

Step 3:

Attache the top piece of the fridge by glue and nails.  The front should hang off but the sides and back should be flush.

Step 4:

Insert the upper shelf into the fridge.  Use wood glue on the side and then nail from the outside of the fridge.

Step 5:

Insert the lower shelf and repeat step 4.

Step 6:

Take the ‘top of legs board’ and place the legs where you want them.  Nail through the top of the board to secure legs.  You can also use wood glue for extra security.

Step 7:

Attach the legs board to the bottom of the fridge.

Step 8:

Attach the front skirt to cover the front legs.  *Optional, you can leave it a rectangle or you can use a scroll saw and add the curve*

Step 9:

Add the left and right side skirts.

Step 10:

This is the front door.  You can leave it a solid piece or you can cut out the center to add the plexiglass window.

Step 11:

If you cut out the front door, now you need to add the plexiglass window.  Pre-drill four tiny holes on each corner of the plexiglass.  Then place over the door and screw into place.

Step 12:

Screw hinges into place as shown below.

Step 13:

When you attach the door you need to leave a 1/16″ gap on the top and bottom.

Step 14:

For the handle you can find one at a hardware store store.  It needs to be around 2″ long.
