DIY American Girl Doll Couch Cushions
DIY American Girl Doll Couch Cushions • No-Sew
Once I completed my new American Girl Doll Couch, I took a look at it and it seemed a little too bland. So, I decided to spruce it up with some new couch cushions! The best part is, this tutorial doesn’t require any sewing skills! Of course you can use your sewing machine for this if you wish, but it’s not needed. Basically, it’s like wrapping a present. Check out the Couch Cushions tutorial below.
Materials Needed:
Scissors
Tape Measure (Optional)
Fabric Piece 22 1/2″x17″
Hot Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
Step 1:
If your couch is the same one I made, the seat should measure 19 1/2″x6 1/4″. So, cut your piece of fabric 22 1/2″x17″ to make sure it will fully cover it. Then Iron it to get out all the wrinkles.
Step 2:
You need to cut your cushion. I used the regular density foam since it’s just for my dolls to sit on. My foam wasn’t quite long enough, so I had to cut an extra piece and hot glue it together to make one long piece. See picture below. It will be the size of the seat, 19 1/2″x6 1/4″.
Step 3:
It’s now time to wrap the present…oh I mean the cushion! Make sure your hot glue gun is on and ready to work because you will need it fast! Put your cut fabric face side on the floor. Place the foam on top of the fabric and fold one side onto the foam. Hot glue down that line. Now wrap the other side of the fabric over and hot glue. Press firmly.
Step 4:
Complete the wrapping process by folding in the sides. Take a look at the pictures below and fold it just as you would a present. Make sure to use enough hot glue and press firmly!
That’s it! I love how easy this is to make something so cute. Grab your couch and place the cushion on. It should fit like a glove. To complete the look, throw some cute pillows on the back.
