American Girl Bedding Tutorial
American Girl Bedding Tutorial
Once you have made your American Girl Doll a bed, see tutorial HERE and HERE, you need to decorate it with some lovely bedding. There are so many choices, but in this tutorial I am going to show you how to do a simple quilt. Notice how I said simple. It does require sewing, but not on an expert level.
Materials Needed:
Scissors
Scrap Fabric
Sewing Machine or needle & thread
Measuring Tape (optional)
Step 1:
The first step is to determine how big you want your doll quilt. Just take your bed and using a measuring tape, write down how long and how wide you want it to be.
Step 2:
Get your scrap pieces of fabric and cut them into the same sized squares. It’s okay if you cut a few too many, you can use those later for a pillow.
Step 3:
Take your squares and arrange them how you want the doll quilt to look. Once you have them in place, you can now sew them together.
Step 4:
Start at one end and work your way across. Take two pieces and put them face side together. Hem and repeat this step until the entire thing is sewn into one piece.
Step 5:
Once it is one piece, you will need to cut a piece of fabric the same size to use as backing. You can use a fun color, or fuzzy texture, or just a scrap fabric like I did. Put the two two pieces face side together and hem around the edges making sure to leave a little opening where you can turn it inside out. Make sure to hem that hole once you’ve reversed it.
Step 5:
This step is completely optional. I did it to give it a ‘quilt’ like feel. Put your sewing machine on a ‘stitch’ setting. You can randomly stitch over the entire quilt, go up and down in rows, or do what I did and just stitched on the lines. See picture below to see what stitch I used.

This is so easy to do! I did it myself and the girls (all 7 of them) enjoy this quilt. Craft on!
