Hi folks, happy Friday. I may be going solo soon and would like some guidance on website development/hosting/marketing (SEO). Practice areas: general commerce, M&A, etc. - most areas under outside general counsel, plus small business legal services.
If you're willing to share, I'd love to see an estimate of the costs associated with the above, including startup capital + monthly fees.

Get hosting with good speed and support, so you don't have to worry about the technical part. For SEO, start with local promotion: pages with an emphasis on your regions and topics, such as M&A and legal support for business. This will provide the necessary traffic without huge investments.

For lawyers, especially in the general counsel, M&A and small business niche, you need not just a business card website, but a platform that will bring in clients. I looked at the services of one company and here everything is tailored for SEO for law firms. They focus on local visibility, promote exactly those services that your audience needs. Inexpensive in terms of money and these are live leads, not just traffic for the sake of reports. Plus they help with content and technology, you don’t have to bother yourself.
